In July 1987 JAPL started operating as a home-based business, under the name of Jaatinen Associates, to provide management systems Consulting, Training and Auditing services mainly for Australian Defence related industries. In July 1996 the business was incorporated as Jaatinen Associates Pty Ltd and more recently, August 2003, changed its name to JAPL Pty Limited.

AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organisation:
